Chester R. Carrithers, age 74, resident of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away November 5, 2009, at the New Mexico Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He was born March 26, 1935 in Syracuse, Kansas, to William B. Carrithers and Fay Stewart Carrithers.
He was a Navy veteran. He was retired from construction work. He loved to garden, to dance, and to mine for gold. He also loved to do his famous B & B.
He is survived by his son: Walter Carrithers of Los Angeles, CA; daughters: Fay Hayes and husband Phil of Brookings, OR; Dallas McDonald and husband Bill of Tacoma, WA; Mary Carrithers and husband Ben of Pocahontas, AK; sisters: Wilma Crow of Redding, CA; Barbara L. Payne of Elgin, ND; Alva Jane Wallenford of Portland, OR; and Marilyn Rich of Carson City, NV; companion & caregiver: Isabel Gonzales; step-daughters: Julie Baca and husband Raymond and their sons, Ray and Jeremy Baca and Anita Gonzales, all of Las Vegas, NM. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date.
