Romero
June 6, 1936 – June 23, 2025
Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Adelaido Romero passed away peacefully at his son, Martin Romero's, home on June 23, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 6, 1936, in Mora, New Mexico.
On December 1, 1958, he married the love of his life, Prescilla Padilla. They shared a devoted and loving marriage for 67 years.
Adelaido worked at the New Mexico State Hospital for 25 years before retiring. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, gathering and selling wood. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and warm smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vitalia and Jacinto Romero, his siblings Fabian Romero, Teodorita and Frank Serna, Macario and Presel Romero, Jesus Romero, father and mother-in-law Malaquias and Crestina Padilla and Nephew John Serna, brother-in-law Agustin and Rosie Padilla. He was the last survivor of his siblings.
He left behind his loving wife, Prescilla Romero; daughters Patricia Molina (husband Javier), Anna Carrillo (partner Nacho); sons Adelaido Romero Jr. (wife Gladis and her children) and Martin Romero. Sister-in-laws Erlinda Fernandez (George), Jenny Quintana (Carlos) and Rosie Romero.
He was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren: Adelaido Romero III, Martin C. Romero, Mario Romero, Marty Romero, Shantel Gallegos, and Brittany Lucero. He was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Las Vegas, NM. Funeral Mass will be conducted Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 9:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father Rob Yaksich as Celebrant, Las Vegas, NM. Burial will follow at the cemetery in Ledoux, New Mexico with the following serving as pallbearers: Adelaido Romero Jr., Martin Romero, Mario Romero, Marty Romero, Javier Molina, Nacho Solis, and Ruben Fernandez.
We would like to thank Anvoi Hospice and all the staff and Rogers Mortuary and staff. Also thank you to everyone who has helped us and sent us prayers and thoughts.Special thank you to Nacho Solis and to Naomi Duran for being caregivers to our father.
