Obituary

Alex Rumaldo Salas was born on March 16, 1953, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and departed peacefully on June 6, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eliseo and Candida Salas; sisters, Marcella Salas, and Mary Lou Gallegos; brother-in-law; Arthur Gallegos, Aunt Helen Aragon, and nephew; Marcus John Armijo.

Alex is survived by his beloved wife, Jolene Salas; daughter, Alexandria Kay Salas-Valdez (Ivan Valdez); son, Joseph Salas (Emily Chavez); and grandchildren, Jomae Salas (Carlos Urioste), Alysse Salas (Miguel Salazar), Jenae Salas, Vincent Valdez, Brandon Chavez, and great-granddaughter, Ciara Mae Urioste. He is also survived by his siblings, Carmen Griego (Frank Griego), Moises Salas (Martha), Maria Eufelia Garcia (life-giving brother Lorenzo Garcia), and Synthia Cindy Salas; mother-in-law, Betsy Gomez-Roybal (Ernest); brothers-in-law, Larry Archuleta (Berta) and Alan Archuleta (Tina)sister-in-law; Karen Archuleta, special friend Lorelei Almanzar, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Alex graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 1972 and continued his education at LVTI for drafting and welding. He worked for Franken Construction Company before co-founding A's Sunburst Construction. In 1979 he built and helped establish "Little People Child Care Center" with his wife Jolene. In 1989, Alex and Jolene established his business, Alex's Seamless Rain Gutters. Alex loved running his business with his family and friends all over New Mexico. Running his successful business brought Alex immense joy and a sense of accomplishment. In a world full of doubt and struggle, Alex always managed to overcome and persevere.

After high school, he began volunteering with the E. Romero Fire Hose Department, dedicating his time to helping others. Later, he became a cherished member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles #3815, where he found joy in playing pool and sharing moments with friends. Alex enjoyed many hobbies such as drawing, carpentry, singing, music, watching westerns, and becoming an avid golfer enjoying tournaments and time with his buddies.

Above all, Alex's greatest joy came from the time he spent with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and his loving dogs Bear Bear and Shep. He had a special relationship with all members of his big family. His family was the heart of his world, and he cherished every moment he shared with them, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and cherished memories.

Cremation has taken place and Rosary will be held on Thursday, June 13th, 2024, at 6:00 pm Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 14th, 2024 at 9:00am both services will be at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, followed by burial of cremains at Masonic Cemetery.
