It is with our heaviest hearts that we are announcing the passing of Alfonso "Corky" Sanchez. Corky lost his battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, (Lou Gehrig's disease), on May 31, 2023 at the age of 61.
Corky was a life time resident and a very well-known barber of Las Vegas, NM. Corky perfected his craft for 40 years in Las Vegas and was a friend to anyone who walked through the door of his barbershop. He was also an avid hunter and outdoorsman. The most important thing in Corky's life though was his family.
He is survived by his wife Annette Sanchez and Daughter Charlotte Sanchez of Las Vegas, NM. Father Alfonso Sanchez Jr (Tonie) of Las Vegas, NM, Brother Steven Sanchez (Alice) and family of Colorado Springs, CO. Sister Corrine Dominguez (Martin) and family of Albuquerque, NM. Sister In-law Pauline Valdez and Family of Las Vegas, NM, Sister In-law Doris Valdez and family (Sam Cook) of Las Vegas, NM Brother In-law Martin Valdez (Debbie) and family of Gallup, NM, Sister In-law Kate Marquez (David) and family of Sapello, NM, Sister In-law Charlene Valdez and family of La Fragua, NM , Sister In-law Rose Salas (Clarence) and family of Gallup, NM, and Brother In-law Ivan Valdez of Los Hueros, NM. Numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, friends and customers.
Corky is preceded in death by: Grandparents Johnny and Bertha Sandoval, Grandparents Alfonso and Cordelia Sanchez, Father In-law Rowland "Rudy" Valdez, Mother In-law Sofia Valdez, Brother In-Law Randy Valdez, and Brother In-law George "Chopo" Valdez.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, June 6th 2023 at 7:00PM at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM.
Funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, June 7th 2023 at 9:00AM at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Rob Yaksich as Celebrant.
Interment will follow at San Juan De Bautista Cemetery in Los Hueros, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers: Ivan Valdez, Charlie Valdez, Steven Sanchez, Samuel Marquez, Miguel Lozano, Jimmy Saiz Sr., Joseph Martinez, Marvin Sandoval.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his best friend Clifford "Bobby" Keiner, Daniel Jaramillo, Santiago Jaramillo and Jimmy Saiz Jr.
