Obituary

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Anna Jean "Jeannie" Garcia on November 10th, 2023, at her home in Las Vegas, NM surrounded by those dearest to her heart.
Anna was born on January 5th, 1960, in Santa Rosa, NM to the late Amelia and David Garcia. She spent her childhood and most of her adolescence there where she spent her time with cousins that she considered her extended siblings (her cousin/brothers). She later relocated to Las Vegas, NM where she continued on to graduate from Robertson High School. She soon after began her family with the late Roy Valencia and subsequently had three children. Anna took so much pride in her children and the struggles of a young family were enough to motivate her to go back to school in her early 30's, at which time she earned her degree in Criminal Justice. She continued her education throughout the years concurrent to working as a case/social worker. She also was proud of the years that she spent as a Corrections Officer in Santa Rosa during which time she met some of her nearest and dearest friends.
Anna was a humble woman with a vast personality. She was never afraid to say what was on her mind but always made sure that what was said or portrayed was from a place of love and compassion. She was always the life of the party; There was never a dull moment when in her presence. Her exuberance could fill a stadium and her smile and hilarity were unmatchable. She opened her heart and her home to all that may have needed love or a helping hand and always made sure that everyone had a sense of belonging and a place to call home no matter what walk of life they came from. She was truly a blessing to those who had the privilege to love or have been loved by her.
Above all Anna was a mother, she was by no means a "traditional" Mom but she loved her children immensely and with no limitations. She accepted and protected her children to the ends of the earth until her very last breath. To her children, she was, is, and always will be the strongest woman they have ever known. She was all that a mother should be in her own unique way and for that her children will forever be grateful and honor her in the highest regard.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Amelia and David Garcia; sisters: Doris Diane Solano and Linda Gallegos; father of her children: Roy Valencia; special friend; Tomas Lopez. She is survived by her children: Valerie Sanchez (Angelica), Lynnsey Vigil (Alyassea), and Jacob Valencia; Grandchildren: Deanna Hern, Jordan Archuleta, Camron Lopez, Collin Lopez, and Jovan Lujan; Great grandson and light of her life: Jayce Lujan; Sister: Rosabella Gonzales; Special nephew and niece: David Solano and Monica Gallegos; Special friends: Earl Lindsley, Pauline Tapia, and Yolanda Trujillo; and numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services will take place at the Las Vegas Christian Center at 2501 Ridge Runner Rd. in Las Vegas, NM on Friday November 17th, 2023 at 11am. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at Mount Calvary cemetery. Urn bearer will be Jordan Archuleta.
