Anna Marie Varela gained her angel wings to be with our Lord and Savior on March 9, 2025. Born and raised in Pecos, NM Marie was born on July 20, 1958, to Cipriano Gonzales and Celestina Vigil.

Marie is preceded in death by her father, Cipriano Gonzales; mother, Celestina Vigil; stepmother, Patsy Lee Gonzales; brothers, Jimmy and Manuel Gonzales; and daughter, Celestina Varela.

Left to cherish her memory is her granddaughter Alyssa Roybal; son-in-law, Chris Roybal; stepsister, Debbie Martinez; nephew, Toby Martinez; and close cousins, Joseph, Danny, Darlene, Melvin, Kathy Ortiz, and Wanda Cde Baca.

She was well known for working most of her life at her father's bar and dance hall, The Rainbow Club. She also owned and managed The Rainbow Mobile Home Park. She found comfort in the company of family and friends. Marie enjoyed arts and crafts like puzzles and crocheting, as well as tracing her family's roots and creating family trees. She was a strong and driven woman who will be missed dearly.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Pecos, NM beginning with a Rosary at 10:00 am followed immediately by Mass. Marie will be taken to her final resting place at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Pecos, NM following the Mass with the following serving as Pallbearers; Danny, Patrick, Chris, Aaron Ortiz, Chris Roybal, and Allen Cde Baca.
