Annie M. Lopez
Mom left this world, not alone but in the loving arms of her Daughter, September 1, 2025, due to an illness. She was the daughter of Isaac and Antonita Romero. After losing her Mother, her Paternal Grandmother Soltelita Martinez raised her and her siblings in Wagon Mound. She married the love of her life Junio Lopez on May 25, 1952. She became the 1st Lady of Las Vegas, twice when our Father became Mayor and also a State Senator. She carried herself with class, grace and poise and always being guided by her faith, love and truth.
She was preceded in death by our Father, Junio Lopez, granddaughter Christina Jeanne Lopez, our family's little angel. Mother-in-law Rosa Lopez, niece Contessa Alvarado, Sister-in-law Evelyn (Nick) Lujan, her two nephew David Lujan, and David Vigil and a very special person in her heart, Tina Loera.
Annie was the last surviving sibling of her family. She was preceded in death by her 6 sisters, and 1 brother. Margaret Lopez (Benito), Frances Vigil (Paul), Viola Romero, Rosie Baca (Ignacio), Rita Sanchez (Louie), Joanah Cordova and Issac Romero Jr..
She is survived by her 5 Children: Paula Lopez, Alonzo Lopez, (Rhonda), David Lopez (Conchi), June, & Roxanne Martinez (David) - 9 Grandchildren: Catana, Jasmin, David, Rodrigo, Alejandro, Christopher, Sheena, JuanCarlos and JuVentin - 12 Great Grandchildren: Elisa, Dimetri, Donavan, Liam, Armani, Marquissa, Josiah, JuanCarlo Jr, AJ, Tina, Erica, and Lucy and 1 Great Great Grandchild: Pia and two surviving Sister-in-laws Stella Romero and Clara (Charlie) Alvardo and 1 brother-in-Law, Larry.
She was a devout Catholic. She served as a Minister of the Eucharist and was also a Catholic Daughter. She took pride in volunteering as a Pink Lady at Alta Vista Hospital. She was always involved in her children's school activities. She was part of the School Board. She loved donating to several organizations in need. She would organize and set up the carport as a carnival to raise money for Muscular Dystrophy. She loved going to the casinos and working on crosswords and puzzles. In her earlier days she joined different Bowling Teams. She was a great supporter of her family, especially enjoying and encouraging our art, creativity, sports and etc.
She will be greatly missed by the family and people who loved her.
Rest in Peace, Mom, Love You, till we meet again.
Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at 9:00am and funeral mass will follow both services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Pallbearers will be JuanCarlo Gutierrez, JuanCarlo Gutierrez Jr., JuVentin Gutierrez, Aj Gutierrez, Toby Vigil, Aaron Archuleta, Clifford Pekoc, and Sammy Pekoc.
