Obituary

Annie Vigil, age 95, a lifelong resident of Chacon and Mora, New Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, in her home in Mora, surrounded by her family. She was born on February 1, 1931, in Holman, New Mexico to the late Damian Vigil and Antonia Lopez Vigil.

It's hard to describe someone whom you saw as perfect, because that is what she was to us. The matriarch of our family, a living testament of endurance, hardships, and perseverance, all the while so patient, nurturing, kind, and holy.

A Mother, Grandmother, Great–Grandmother, and Great-Great-Grandmother, who truly gave meaning to the words Great and Grand. Her love was immeasurable and limitless. She was our rock, our teacher, our counselor, our preacher, and our nurse, who not only mended many scraped knees but also many of our hearts when they felt broken, but most importantly, she was our vigilant protector. She lived for more than 9 decades and did so with such grace, humility, and wisdom that she shared with the many people she knew. She was an empathic soul who struggled at times but stood firmly in her faith until her last breath.
