Arthur "Vato" Martinez, 75, and a resident Los Martinitos ,NM, went to be with the Lord on March 25, 2025.
He was born on January 12, 1950 in Las Vegas, NM to Jose and Martha Martinez.
During his military stint as MSgt in the Air force. He got to travel to many countries and participant in the Vietnam War. We thank him for his service. After retirement he took up his lifetime dream of running horses. He started in California, moving to NM and continued racing his horses. He also started successful landscaping business. He met and had many good friends, workers and clients in Santa Fe. He helped many during his lifetime especially young people. He is loved and will be remembered for ever.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Jose and Martha Martinez; In-laws Abran and Ambrosita Sanchez; Son Jeremy Martinez and daughter Victoria Martinez: brothers, Tommy, Christopher and Jerry Martinez; sisters, Josephine, Patricia and Elizabeth Martinez; nephews and niece, Alex Martinez, and Robert and Lisa Sanchez.
Arthur is survived by his wife Rachel Sanchez-Martinez; his sons, Aaron (Leslie), John (Darla) and Carlos Rivera daughters Claudia Rivera (Matt), Star Chavez (John), Marvalee, brothers, Norman (Bonnie) of Los Lunas, Michael (Gina) of Bernal, Patrick (Patricia) of Clovis, Joseph of Las Vegas, Steve (Maria) of Los Martinitos; sisters, Dorothy (Fred) of Denver, Rosella (Benny) of Commerce City, Colo., Mary Sanchez of Los Martinitos, Christine (Joel) of Los Martinitos, Tina Martinez (Steve) of Santa Fe, and Rita (Mike) of Angel Fire; Grandchildren, Kyle, Kate, Johndavid, Caleb, Ilianu, Navaren, KeAhi, Special nephew Mikey Martinez, Special niece Margaret Olguin and numerous nephews and nieces.
Special thanks to Tiny and Joel Gosdin (His Best Bud), Margaret Olguin, Christine Jaquez, CC, Tito, Mikey, Amber and Chela that helped care for Arthur during his last days.
A rosary will be Monday 4/7/2025 at 6:00pm at San Miguel Church in San Miguel, NM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday 4/8/2025 at 10:00am at Santa Rita Church in Bernal. Burial taking place at the Tecolote Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers are his nephews Mikey Martinez, Gerald Ulibarri, Tito Martinez, Lil Pat Marquez, Carlos Rivera, John David Chavez, Christian Martinez, Elijah Perez Ilianu, Navaren, KeAhi, and Juan
