Barney Salazar, age 82, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born in Watrous, New Mexico on December 17, 1941, to the late Perfecto and Aurelia Salazar. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

His lifelong work involved always working with his hands, mainly in construction. He enjoyed the small things in life: drinking a cold Coca-Cola, eating a Hershey's candy bar, smoking a Marlboro cigarette, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with family. He will be greatly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Perfecto and Aurelia Salazar; brother, Perry Salazar; sisters, Stella Allen, Barbara Montoya, Dora Mueller, Lila Miller, Maria Finley; and Carlos Montoya.

He is survived by his wife, Reynalda Montoya of Manuelitas, NM; sister, Fran Lisenbee; brother, Robert Salazar; children, Kim Salazar, Kelli Salazar, Kevin Salazar, Paul Montoya, Andrew Montoya, Dolores Montoya-Sanchez (Mark), and Raymond Montoya (Anita); grandchildren, Kathleen Sanders (Justin), Jeremy Montoya (Luiz Marques), Victoria Madrid (Justin), Stephanie Bachicha (Kenneth), Jonathan Montoya, Samantha Ordonez (Luis), Matthew Montoya (Cecelia), Gabriella Sanchez, and Joshua Montoya; great-grandchildren Gavin Sanders, Emma Sanders, Jackson Madrid, Elias Montoya, Emily Montoya, Jaylen Montoya, Gracie Ordonez, Sophia Montoya, Isabella Montoya, and Emilia Montoya; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rosary devotional services will be recited on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be conducted Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. with both services to be held at Immaculate Conception Parish Church with Father Dennis Garcia as celebrant.

Burial of cremains will take place at Santa Rita de Cascia Cemetery in Bernal, NM with the following serving as urn bearers: Andrew Montoya and Jonathan Montoya.
