Begnina "Bennie" Vigil, 90, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to all, passed away peacefully at Christus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, NM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.  A resident of Guadalupita, New Mexico, She was a lifelong Catholic and a member of Saint Gertrudes Parish in Mora, NM. She was born on September 06, 1934, in Ledoux, NM to Frank and Louisa Martinez. She was united in marriage to John Vigil on October 23, 1950, they were blessed with ten children and together raised a loving family. Begnina and John were married for 54 years until his passing in 2004. She was a woman of deep spiritual faith.  She was selfless and always put the needs of others before her own, she was known for her humility, kindness, and always willing to help and care for others. Her memory will live on by her family and friends. May we find comfort in knowing that her spirit is now at peace. "Forever in our Hearts".

She is preceded in death by her spouse John Vigil, daughters Lorraine Vigil, Rosie Archuleta, Marcia Vigil, son Joseph Vigil, grandson Charles Vigil, great grandson Anthony Gonzales. Her parents Frank and Louisa Martinez, brothers Alfonso, Louie (Betty), Eddie, Anthony. Sister Senida Maes (Ignacio), and Betty Martinez.  In-laws Juan and Ascencionita Vigil, Alfonso Vigil (Frances) and Orlando Vigil (Amalia) and other nieces and nephews.

Begnina is survived by her daughters Gloria Rodriguez (Felix), Beatrice Regensberg (Lesley), and Genevieve Vigil (Sam). Sons Floyd Vigil, Michael Vigil, and Paul Vigil (Donna). She was blessed with 26 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, and 21 great-great grandchildren. Brothers Gilbert Martinez (Ida), Orlando Martinez (Nellie), Joe Martinez (Vivian), Fred Martinez (Gloria). Sisters Dora Mascaranas (Paul), Mary Martinez (Emilio), and Ruby Martinez. Numerous nieces and nephews.

Rosary services will be held on Wednesday, August 06, 2025, at 7 p.m. at St. Gertrude's the Great Catholic Church in Mora, NM.

Funeral mass will be on Thursday, August 07, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gertrude's the Great Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Grala, S.O.L.T. as celebrant.

Interment will follow at the Vigil Family Cemetery in Guadalupita, NM., with the following serving as pallbearers: Brandyn Regensberg, Cruz Chavez, Jonathan Vigil, Elijah Chavez, Paul Vigil Jr. Christopher Vigil, Andrew Archuleta, and John Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her other grandchildren.
