Bernabe Gallegos, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and cousin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Mora, New Mexico, to Amadeo Gallegos and Mariquita Pacheco Gallegos. Bernabe spent his life rooted in the beauty and traditions of northern New Mexico.

A longtime resident of Monte Aplanado, Bernabe found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished quiet moments by the pond, often taking his little boat out to enjoy the serenity of nature. His garden was a source of pride and peace, lovingly tended year after year. He also enjoyed scenic drives to Murphy Lake, where he could take in the landscape he loved so dearly.

Bernabe was preceded in death by his parents, Amadeo Gallegos and Mariquita Pacheco Gallegos, and his siblings: Alfonso Gallegos, Jose A. Gallegos, Gilbert Gallegos, Abenancio Gallegos, and Dolly Gallegos Youngblood.

Bernabe is survived by his children: Bernie Gallegos, David Gallegos (Melissa), Evelyn Martinez (Leroy), Nadine Gallegos, and Jeanette Olivas (Paul). He leaves behind a large and loving extended family, including his siblings: Emily Pino (Mike) of Belen, NM; Lucy Shoemaker of Washington; Nora Montoya (Felix) of Albuquerque, NM; Reyes Gallegos (Cathy) of Colorado; Rosita Martinez of Los Lunas, NM; Martha Gallegos of California; Elsie Gallegos of Guadalupita, NM; Bernice Leyba (Lupe) of Coyote, NM; and Lorenzo Gallegos (Sophie) of Buena Vista, NM.

He was a proud grandfather to Jay Trujillo (Shannon), Justin Velasquez, Andrew Gallegos (Renae), Aaron Gallegos (Olivia), Denise Gallegos, Derick Gallegos (Jen), Chris Trujillo, April Gallegos, Jared Velasquez, Monique Olivas, Natalie Olivas, and Jasmyn Chacon, and a great-grandfather to sixteen cherished great-grandchildren.

Services to honor Bernabe's life will be held at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM on Monday, October 20, 2025, beginning with a Rosary at 9:30 am followed immediately by a Mass of Christian burial with Fr. Paul Grala, S.O.L.T. officiating. Interment will follow services at Santo Nino Cemetery in Monte Aplanado, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers; Jay Trujillo, Derick Gallegos, Aaron Gallegos, Jared Gallegos, Andrew Gallegos, and Leroy Martinez.
