Bernard Wallace
"Wally" Espinosa
June 14, 1962 – July 4, 2025
Bernard Wallace "Wally" Espinosa of Las Vegas, New Mexico passed away peacefully on the 4th of July, 2025.
Wallace was the second of six children. He was born to Fred Espinoza of Sapello, New Mexico, and the late Quirina Garcia-Gallegos on June 14, 1962 in Las Vegas. Wally had many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly and embraced them as his own. He was preceded in death by his mother Quirina Gallegos, his step-father John Gallegos, his nephew Matthew Espinoza, and his younger brother Jeffery Espinoza who passed away in 2020. Wally's paternal grandparents were Bergil and Maria Espinoza; his maternal grandparents were Faustine and Elosia Garcia. Wally was a lifelong Catholic, baptized by his paternal grandparents Bergil and Maria.
Wallace is survived by his father Fred and brother Benji of the Espinoza Family Ranch, as well as his sisters LaVerne Espinosa of Las Vegas, Danon (DeeDee) Espinoza of Albuquerque, and Trena Gallegos of Virginia. Wally also has a step-daughter named Sara Roybal with whom he was very close. Wally's nieces and nephews include Alyssa Wilson, Justiss, and Christian; Matthew, Jolene and Josiah; Angelina and Eliseo. Wally was blessed with an extensive family of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. The entire community of Sapello and Cañoncito knew Wally well.
Wallace lived most of his life in Las Vegas and briefly in Salida, Colorado where he attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and Salida High School. Like his father Fred, Wally was artistically gifted. He excelled in auto body restoration and other art forms. His projects included vintage cars, trucks, and many low riders. Finished products were displayed at car shows in New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, and Nevada. Wally embraced the Latino culture with great pride. He was known for his painted paños. He loved the Espinoza Family Ranch and will be laid to rest there alongside his brother Jeff. He had a wide network of loyal, supportive friends who stood by him particularly Marvin, Mikey, Armando, Lawrence, Kenneth, James, Louie Mares, and childhood friends Jerry, Mark, and Charles from Salida, Colorado.
Wally made the best of every day and rarely complained. He loved his family and friends dearly. He will be missed by all who knew him. When you see a vintage car or a sweet low rider be reminded of Wally Espinosa.
