Betty Lee
Perez
January 2, 1952 – October 26, 2022
Betty Lee Perez died of natural causes on October 26th, 2022 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital. She was born to Leandro and Cleofas Coca on January 2, 1952 in Las Vegas, NM. With the exception of a many years in Leavenworth, Kansas and a short time in Phoenix Metro area, Betty was a life-long resident of the Meadow City. She attended local schools and graduated from Robertson High School in 1971. Following the lead of older siblings, she earned an LPN from Luna Vocational Technical Institute, received her license in 1976 and worked in many hospitals located in NM, KS, AZ to include nursing homes. She retired in the office of Dr. Franklin Miller, where she truly enjoyed working and was known as Dr. Miller's right hand Nurse. Many of her former patients remember her as kind, caring and helpful.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, two older sisters, Rosella Chavez of Bernalillo and Sophie Phillips (Harold) of Raton, numerous uncles, aunts and a nephew, Alex Coca. She was very sentimental and after each death of a family member, friend or acquaintance, Betty would place an angel pin with the deceased to accompany them on their journey.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Perez of Albuquerque; daughter, Carla Perez; two granddaughters, Gianna Roybal of Albuquerque and Eliana Perez of Rio Rancho; brother, Jerry L Coca (Sandy) of Las Vegas; nieces, Sylvia Garduno of Bernalillo, Edith Gallegos (Pat) of Las Vegas, Sharon Chavez of Ocala, Fla., Marquita Montano (Chris) of Santa Fe; nephews, Greg Fresquez (Berta) of Trinidad, Co., Dennis Fresquez (Cassandra) of Las Vegas, Lenny Coca (Claudia) of Las Cruces; ex-husband, Alfred Perez of Rio Rancho. There are also numerous great-nieces and great-nephews as well as cousins and friends. Betty, like most of us, had many facets to her personality. However, she will forever be remembered as feisty, funny, loyal and always willing to help others in need. She loved spontaneous road trips to visit her son and grandchildren, music, dancing and going to church.
A viewing for the family has already been held at Rogers Mortuary. A rosary will be recited on November 18, 2022 at 7:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.
