Billy Jose Martinez, age 61, went to meet our Lord on September 14, 2026. He was born on May 9, 1965, in Las Vegas, NM and has been a lifelong resident of Las Vegas.

Jose deeply loved those around him and spoke of them in every conversation whether it be to nurses, doctors, or friends. He called his son Miguel “his rock” and was very proud of his achievements. They would call and text constantly throughout the day. His brother Juanito was also a big part of his life; Juanito would visit Jose daily, bring him lunch, and was a very special brother to him.

Jose had many passions in life including cooking for his family, dancing with his beloved Jude, hunting, woodcutting, and spending time with his son. He was known for his famous enchiladas and delicious tacos.

Jose was a caregiver for many including his father, mother, and wife who had a short battle with cancer. He passed this trait to his son Miguel, who in turn was a caregiver to his father for the many years he battled cancer. They were on the road to appointments sometimes more than once a week.

He is survived by his one and only loving son Miguel Martinez and partner Leslie Vigil. Special brother: Juanito Martinez; Stepson: Enrique Cavazos and wife Lindsey; Grandchildren: Marley Rain, Bronx Lion, Ryatt Davis and Jett Lennox; Sister: Geraldine Baca (Jonas); Brothers: Gilbert Martinez (Kathy) and William Martinez (Deborah); Special Aunt: Mary Lou Gallegos (Charlie); and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A public viewing will be held at Rogers Mortuary Thursday, September 24, 2026 2:00-4:30pm

Rosary service will be recited on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at 7:00pm funeral mass will be on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at 9:00am both services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church burial of cremains will be at Los Montoya’s cemetery in Los Montoya’s Urn Bearer: Miguel Martinez; Gift Bearers: Patrick Ashe and Emilio Garcia; Readers: Norma Lucero, Kathleen Sanders, and Stephanie Montoya-Bachicha.
