Obituary

Carlos Garcia, age 87, was called home by our Lord on December 18, 2025 in Las Vegas, New Mexico 87701. Carlos was born on March 21, 1938 in Sena, NM.

Carlos was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Rose Garcia (Hurtado), who passed away in 1974; his parents, Margarito Garcia and Josefa Elvira Gallegos-Garcia; his brother, Virgil Garcia, Sr.; sister-in-law, Lucy Garcia; nephew, Virgil Garcia, Jr.; his sister, Aurelia Gonzales; brother-in-law, Joe Gonzales, nephew, Ron Gonzales; and his daughter-in-law, Patsy Dimas. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother in-law Locario and Florinda Hurtado, his brothers in-law Nick, Ernest, Pete and Julio Hurtado, Zenon Lopez, Tony Lucas, sister's in-law Corrine and Julia Hurtado.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Sandoval (Albert), and his grandchildren, Christina Requa (Tim), great-grandchildren Wyatt and Morgan, grandchildren, Michael (Jasmie), great-grandchildren, King and Ki'mya, grandchildren, Margarita (Frankie), great-grandchildren Madison, Jillian, Spencer, grandchildren Stephanie, Albert II, and great-grandchild, Albert III, granddaughter also includes Tara and children Tyrique and Trevor and grandson Justice Gomez (Valeria), and children Alessandra and Vicente.

Also surviving is his son, Vincent Garcia (Patsy), grandchildren Darlene Arguello (Daryl), great-grandchildren: Shannon Garcia, great great-grandchildren: Isaia, Alexa and Jayden, great-grandson, Brandon Trujillo (Hannah), great great granddaughter Valentina, grandson, Benny Arguello (Nicole) great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, and Payton, grandchildren Marie Martinez (Adam) and children Emilio, Cody and Leanna.

Also surviving are his daughter Germaine Sandoval (Ernest), grandson Ernie (Jennifer), great-grandchildren Jazmyne, Jaden, Addison and Chase, granddaughters Charlee and Hope (Melyssa), great-grandchild Kyle.

Also surviving is his son Harold Mark Garcia (Lucinda), grandson Carlos Garcia (Crystal) and great-granddaughter Everlee, and granddaughter Kelsey.

Also surviving is his son Gerald Pat Garcia (Stephanie), granddaughters, Felicia Alderete, great-granddaughter, Jaylynn and Jenna, granddaughters Marisa Legarreta (Antonio) great-grandsons, Jayce and Zayden, grandsons Patrick and Mark.

He is survived by his nephew Alfred Gonzales (Sandy), niece Theresa Garcia, brother in-law Locario Hurtado, Jr., sisters in-law, Pina Lopez, Theresa Hurtado, Camilla Hurtado and Paula Lucas.

He is also survived by an honorary daughter Josephine (Chepa) Sena and her family along with numerous extended family and close friends.

A devout Catholic, a member of the Our Lady of Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church in Villanueva, New Mexico. Carlos lived a graceful life guided by faith, humility, and service. He was a dedicated Hermano Crusado and served the Catholic Church faithfully. After the passing of his wife in 1974, Carlos courageously raised his children, relying on his faith in God and the strength of his immediate family. His children were his greatest blessing, and his life was centered on love, sacrifice, and devotion to his family.

Carlos was a talented farmer, skilled carpenter, and stone mason, known for his strong work ethic and generous heart. Carlos was part of the initial volunteer fire fighters for the Steven Gallegos Volunteer Fire Station in El Pueblo, New Mexico. He was a volunteer firefighter for approximately 15 years.

His employment included work with the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute, the City of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Center, various construction positions, and as a self-employed backhoe owner and operator of his business, Always Remember Me (A.R.M.).

Carlos will be remembered for his deep love of family, steadfast faith, quiet strength, and humble service to his community and family.

Honorary Pallbearers are: Ernie Sandoval, Albert Sandoval II, Carlos Garcia, Patrick Garcia, Mark Garcia, Kyle Sandoval, Albert Sandoval III, Michael Sandoval Chase Sandoval and King Sandoval.

Rosary will be recited on January 9, 2026 at 9:00am funeral mass will follow with both services to be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM.
