Carlos R. Griego 77, a resident of Tesuque, NM, passed away peacefully at home on November 3, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Carlos was preceded in death by his parents Redolfo and Ruth Griego, brother, Rudy Griego, nephew, Alex Griego, Father and Mother-in-law Abedon Ortiz Jr. and Maria Lena Ortiz.
Carlos is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Jeanette Veronica Griego; son, Kevin (Jacqueline) Griego; daughter, Samantha (Estevan) Sanchez; granddaughters, Liliana, Maleaha, and Natalia Griego, and Sophia Sanchez. Siblings, Angie Gomez, Virginia (Fred) Trujillo, and Joseph (Theresa) Griego; sister-in-law, Julia Griego; special sister-in-law, Viola (Robert) Mondragon, and special brother-in-law, Ralph Ortiz (Janice).
Carlos was a devoted husband, father, and pampa. He was a U.S. Veteran who bravely served his country in Vietnam. He retired from the New Mexico State Land Office. Carlos fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past 2 years.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to his caretaker Meagan Kovac, Dr. Robert Ali and his team, Amber Care Hospice team, Ralph Ortiz, Viola, Kimberly, and Nicholas Mondragon.
A Rosary will be recited at Nuestra Señora De Guadalupe in Pojoaque, NM, on Monday, November 17, 2025 at 3:00pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 10:00am at Nuestra Señora De Guadalupe in Pojoaque, NM as well. Interment to follow at 12:30 pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery with full military honors and the following serving as Pallbearers are Estevan Sanchez, Danny Gomez, Ralph Ortiz, Christopher Ortiz, Robert Mondragon, and Nicholas Mondragon. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Martinez, Frank Jimenez, and Anthony Cruz.
