Obituary

On July 6, 2016, Carlos Eloy Rodriguez 90 went home to be with the Lord. He left this world surrounded by his most treasured possessions; his family. His departure from this world will leave an undeniable void, he was many things to so many people, and he had such a way with folks that enemies were scarce. His love and generosity knew no bounds, so when he enlisted into the Navy on June 27, 1944 it came as no surprise. He served with honor and distinction as a Seabee during World War II achieving the rank of Carpenters Mate third class before being honorably discharged in February 1946. He returned home to Las Vegas, NM where he met the love of his life, Mary Arguello, they were united in marriage on May 16, 1953. They began to expand their family shortly thereafter, bringing seven children into the world; Carlos worked tirelessly and without complaint to provide for his family, his resume included Coca-Cola Co., Pepsi Co., Superior Bread Company and finally New Mexico Highlands University until his retirement. Besides the births of his children, being appointed as the Grand Marshall of the 2015 Fourth of July Fiesta Parade as well as being awarded the Distinguished Family Award from New Mexico Highlands University in 1998, were some of his most proud moments. He was a proud and humble man who spoke highly of his family to everyone he came upon, his children and grandchildren's successes were a direct reflection of himself. Special thanks to Amber Care Hospice for assisting the greatest man we knew to exit this earth with honor and dignity, especially Addie Montoya, RN whose compassion and kindness were a ray of light during this most dismal time. He was preceded in death by his parents: Octaviano and Erinea Rodriguez; daughter: Sandra Rodriguez; sisters: Elvira Ortiz and Senaida Griego; brothers: Arcenio Rodriguez, Macario Rodriguez and Manuel Rodriguez.
