Catherine (Cathy Mascareñas) Ortiz

Cathy Ortiz, age 71, went to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on November 20, 2025.

Cathy was an avid outdoors person who enjoyed fishing and hunting. She loved going to dances. She also loved spending time with her extended family and will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Magdalena Mascareñas, her maternal grandparents Ignacio and Hignia Salazar, and paternal grandparents Juan and Gelacia Mascareñas.

Catherine is survived by her sons, Jerry and Ricky Gomez, grandchildren Ben, Jerry James, Santana and Seth Gomez, and great granddaughter Serena Gomez. Also, siblings Isidro Mascareñas (Magdalena), Shirley Vigil (Dale), Benjamin Mascareñas (Hazel) and multiple nieces and nephews.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to NMBHI (Meadows) for their care. Also, to her siblings for being there with her during this time and to her special cousins Rose Padilla and Judy Archuleta and to Rogers Mortuary.

Services will be held on December 3, 2025 with rosary at 9:00am, followed by mass  both services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. Burial of cremains will be held at San Ignacio Cemetery in San Ignacio, NM with the following serving as Urn Bearers Jerry Gomez, Santana Gomez and Seth Gomez.
