Cecilia
Vredenburg
August 11, 1940 – January 11, 2026
Cecilia Vredenburg, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 11th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. A lifelong devout Catholic, she lived her life guided by faith, service, and deep devotion to God and family.
Born on August 11, 1940, in Anton Chico, NM. Cecilia was one of fifteen and the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Julia Gutierrez. She was the wife of the late Robert L. Vredenburg. Cecilia was a graduate of New Mexico Highlands University in 1996 and had a successful career as a librarian with New Mexico Highlands University for over 20 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed traveling the world with her traveling partner and sister, Nina Henry.
Her faith was the foundation of her life, shaping her values and strengthening her through every season. She was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception parish, where she found great comfort in prayer, the sacraments, and community. Her quiet faith and unwavering trust in God were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her love of music also led her to be a member of multiple choirs of the church.
Cecilia was a loving mother who dedicated her life to nurturing her family with patience, wisdom, and unconditional love. She was also a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, always offering a listening ear, kind words, and heartfelt prayers. Her home was a place of warmth, welcome, and grace, where faith and family were always at the center.
Cecilia is survived by her children, James Vredenburg (Melissa) and Angel Pascoe (Doug); her siblings, Nina Henry, Patsy Archibeque, and Terri May (Jim); grandchildren, Cirilio Aragon, Ryan Trujillo, Marisol Vredenburg, and Isaiah Vredenburg; and many extended family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Vredenburg, her beloved daughter April Palomino, her parents, and other beloved family members.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish on January 31, 2026, at 9:30 am, followed by interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Las Vegas, NM, with the following serving as honorary pallbearers: Cecilia's grandsons Ryan, Isaiah, and Cirilio. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and the belief that she has been welcomed home into God's loving embrace. May she rest in peace. Arrangements are entrusted to and under the care of Rogers Mortuary, 600 Reynolds Avenue, Las Vegas, NM 87701. 505-425-3511.
