Chester "Chet"
Norman
April 27, 1944 – September 8, 2025
Chester (Chet) Bryan Norman, age 81, of Watrous, New Mexico, passed away on Monday September 8, 2025 in Watrous. He was born April 27, 1944 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Clayton and Ellen (Bryan) Norman. He grew up working on the family ranch east of Las Vegas,
NM where he and his brother Charlie learned to work and care for cattle at an early age. In the summer of 1964, he met the love of his life, Claudette McElroy. They got married in December 1964.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton & Ellen Norman, and one son, Denley Norman.
Chester is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Claudette; two sons: Arlyn Norman (Mary Jo) of Alva, OK; Bryan Norman (Gretchen) of Pine Bluffs, WY; one daughter, Jinger Kueffer (Lyle) of Watrous, NM, and daughter-in-law Lisa Norman of Buffalo, WY. He is survived by one brother, Charlie Norman (Emily) of Las Vegas, NM, two sisters: Dixie Rice (Cliff) of Dumas, TX and Gayla Otero (Robert) of Los Lunas, NM; nine grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chester has always been a rancher, working on the Bookout Ranch, Fort Union Ranch and the Phoenix Ranch where he passed away doing what he loved; taking care of cattle. His love for God inspired us as kids to follow. His love for his family was strong and his care was beyond
words to express. His love of family and life inspired many far and wide. There are people too many to count that looked up to and loved Chester in their own way. He was cherished by many and loved by all. It was Chester's wish to not have a formal service but for those who
knew and loved him to remember him in their own way. John 14:1-3
In lieu of flowers, gifts, etc., the family wishes that: May God bless you and keep you and make His face to shine upon you. May God be gracious to you. May the Lord show you favor and give you peace. Numbers 6:24-26.
Celebration of life will be held at the Phoenix Ranch on September 27, 2025, at 10:00 am.
Arrangements are entrusted to and under the care of Rogers Mortuary, 600 Reynolds Ave., Las Vegas, NM 87701, 505-425-3511 or 1-800-479-3511.
