August 20, 1925 – April 16, 2024
Cipriano (Frank) Alvarado, 98, a resident of Alamogordo, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on April 16, 2024. He was a former resident of Englewood, Colorado for over 50 years before moving to Alamogordo in 2012. He was born in El Paso, Texas on August 20, 1925. He joined the United States Navy, where he served our country during World War II. He retired from the University of Denver after 29 years.
He is preceded in death by his Son Ernest Robert Alvarado, his mother Elvira Mendosa, his father Cipriano Alvarado, his sisters Emma Olguin, Ruth (Cuca) Delrio and brother, Phil Mendosa.
He is survived by his spouse of 65 years, Frances Alvarado; his children Vera (Carl) Sanders of Buffalo, New York, Louie (Christina) Alvarado of Denver, Colorado, Pearl (Andy) Abalos of Canyon City, Colorado, Ernest (Julie) Alvarado of Denver, Colorado, Richard Alvarado of Pueblo, Colorado, Rosemarie Alvarado, Caroline (Dave) Kelly of Santa Fe, New Mexico and Eloy Alvarado of Jemez Spring, New Mexico and his sister, Selia Bejarano. He had numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at 6:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 9:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, New Mexico with the following serving as Pallbearers, Richard Alvarado, Ernest Alvarado, Max Fortuna, Andy Abalos, Jr., Christian Sanders and Jessie Manchego. Honorary Pallbearers will be Justin Tidwell and Mark Fortuna.
Interment will take place on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at 9:00 am at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico with full honors.
