Cruzita Martinez 88, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, NM passed away on February 27, 2022 at her daughter's home in Rio Rancho. She was born to Delfido Lopez and Guadalupe Gonzales on June 12, 1933 in Gonzales Ranch. She was a long time Catholic and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, she loved the Lord. She was united in marriage with the love of her life, Elauterio Martinez on June 18, 1951. Cruzita could frequently be found sewing, cooking, and bullying people to eat her many wonderful dishes. She left behind a house full of stuff that her children will never know what to do with it all. Anything she said was genuine to a fault, she was a pussy cat at heart (or a lion), and she sugar coated nothing but was the sweetest person you would ever meet. She loved to weed her garden or cut wood with her grandchildren as her helpers when child labor was legal (or so she told them). She also enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren's appetites with sweets and goodies- often just before dinner. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Her passing will leave a void in the hearts of her family. Cruzita is the loving devoted mother of her sons, Peter Martinez (Rose) and Moises Martinez (Kathy) all of Las Vegas, NM; daughters: Dorothy Pacheco (Daniel) of Denver, CO and Charlotte Gonzales (Luis) of Rio Rancho, NM; daughter-in-law: Joni Martinez of Kansas City, MO. She is survived by her sister Margie Jaramillo of Santa Fe, NM and her brother Joe Lopez of Watrous, NM. She has 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Elauterio Martinez; parents Delfido and Guadalupe Lopez; son Arthur Martinez; grandson Martin Martinez; brother, Ernesto Lopez and sisters, Magdalena Sandoval and Pauline Madrid. A public viewing will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 from 3:00-5:00pm at Rogers Mortuary Chapel. Rosary service will be on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 9:00am. Funeral service will follow after rosary at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM with Father Christopher Nnonyelu as celebrant. Interment will at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the following serving as Pallbearers Nicholas Martinez, Olandis Gonzales, Martin Lopez, Adam Gonzales, Joseph Martinez and Tony Hernandez.
