Cougar, 61, passed away suddenly on September 29th 2022.
Cougar was born on January 31, 1961 to the late William Chavez and Acianita Martinez Chavez.
Cougar was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and looking for treasure. Cougar was multi-talented and could repair a broken-down car, build a house, pour a slab, rock work and fix pretty much anything.
Cougar was the life of the party and enjoyed having a cold one with his friends. Cougar will be remembered by his family and friends for his loud personality and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Cougar enjoyed spending time with his grandkids by teaching them important life lessons, sharing jokes and horse playing. Cougar always put his family first and was a great example of what a husband and father should be. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Chavez and Acianita Martinez Chavez. Brother Roy Chavez, sisters Marcella Chavez and Estella Romero, Son Daniel Chavez and nephews Arthur Romero, Nathan Medina, Joey Chavez and Steven McDonald, Clovis Romero Jr. special friend Nancy Baughman.
Cougar is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marylee Chavez. Daughters, Melanie Chavez, Deidra Cordova (David) and Tiffany Chavez. Grandchildren Xavier, Jace, Teagan and Kacen. Godchildren, Eldy, JJ, Josiah and Jazmine. Brother, Frank Chavez (Christabelle), sisters, Rosalie Martinez ( late Barney), Cecilia Romero (Clovis), Grace Chavez, Erleen Chavez, and Hannah Scott. His father and mother in law, Moises and Marcella Pacheco, sister in laws, Rita Vigil (Johnny), Maryjean Marquez (Jesse), Florence Mendoza (Ralph), Margaret Medina (Herman), Aurora Medina (David), brother in laws Eddie Pacheco (Janelle), Benjie Pacheco (Yvonne). Along with numerous nephews, nieces, family and many friends.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11:00am at Mt. Calvary Assembly of God in Mora, NM with Pastor Frank Chavez as officiant. Interment will follow at Presbyterian Cemetery in Mora, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers, David Cordova, Xavier Sandoval, JJ Chavez, Joseph Chavez, Frank Chavez Jr, Matthew Chavez, Jefferey Chavez and Calvin Sandoval. Honorary pallbearers will be, Josiah Montoya, Jace Cordova, Kacen Medina, Eldy Vigil, Adam Valdez, Bruce Cordova, Julian Romero, Dennis Trujillo and Isaac Leyba.
