It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dewey Dean Roybal, 61, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas NM, who passed away on Tuesday, June , 2026.
He was born on March 25, 1965 in Las Vegas, NM to the late Pete and Melva Hern Roybal. He was a beloved son, a devoted father, a cherished uncle, and a proud U.S. Army Veteran, having served in Desert Storm. Dewey lived a life defined by duty, honor, and an unwavering love for his family. As a father to Auritha Roybal, he was a dedicated guide, a constant source of strength, and his daughter’s biggest hero. He was a loving son who always honored his roots, and a fun-loving, larger-than-life uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Whether he was sharing stories of his service, offering wisdom, or simply making everyone laugh, he left an unforgettable mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents and by his beautiful, loving and caring sister Debra Roybal.
He is survived by his daughter: Auritha and wife, Deborah Mares-Roybal; brothers: Dale Roybal and wife Laurel, Duane Roybal and his wife Josie, Sister-in- law: Fabby Roybal, Nephews: Ezra Roybal and Emile Arguello, Isiah Roybal, Brant Roybal, Derek Roybal, and Jaden Bowie. Nieces: Naomi Martinez, Brandi Little, Angela Nation, Jasmine Roybal (Goddaughter), BettyAnn Gomez, Ava Roybal, and Aeryn Bowie, all of which he cherished and loved immensely. Granddaughters: Amor and Eloy, and Savannah. Grandsons: Gerald, and Dominus. Great Grandson: Zeke. He is also survived by the mother of his daughter: Jeannie Urioste and his long-life friends: Jessie Benavidez, and Martin Lopez.
Rosary devotional services will take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at 6:00 PM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The funeral mass will take place on Friday, June 12th at 9am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Ezra Roybal, Isiah Roybal, Rico Martinez, Dominus Encinias, Jessie Benavidez, Martin Lopez, Orlando Romero, and Eloy Lucero.
