Obituary

Doyle Wayne Hauschulz died recently in the comforts of his home, and nearby radio station KFUN.

Doyle is survived by his sister, Bethylin (Clint) Driscoll; and three brothers: Gary (Susan);Damon (Jenn); Terry(Vivian), as well as six nephews and nieces.

Doyle was born in Sterling, Kansas on July 24,1949 to Betty I. Grindle Hauschulz and Doyle K. Hauschulz. Doyle spent most of his childhood in Aspen, Denver, and Littleton, Colorado where he learned to ski and became fascinated with electronics, and the global communications of amateur "ham" radio. While still in Jr. High he earned the Top "Ham" Operators License and became instrumental in communicating with his short wave families during global disasters, such as the 1965 Plume Creek Floods in Littleton. Doyle graduated from Arapahoe High School in Littleton, in spite of shocking Mr. Thompson, his Physics instructor. The Viet Nam War was in everyone's consciousness and Doyle enlisted in the Fall of '67. After aptitude testing Doyle became a High Security High Speed Code Interceptor, stationed in Japan.

After his military service, Doyle moved back to Littleton and bought Bosley's TV in Littleton. This began his lifelong career of fixing electronics (Televisions, Rock N/ Roll amplifiers, etc) and keeping radio stations on the air. Doyle and his wife Sharon, moved to Sapello, New Mexico in 1979 and opened up Sapello TV. Doyle realized that the business of Electronics was not what he enjoyed, but just the "Electronics." He moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico, and found his home, and his second wife and best friend, Dorothy Simpson. New Mexico Highlands University became one of Doyle's first customers. At first he fixed their computers, but soon after he taught computer classes and became instrumental in keeping their campus radio station, KEDP, on the air. He even DJ'd an "Oldies Radio" program until his retirement just a few years ago. His real excellence was as an on-site radio technician. He loved fixing anything electronic and was so happily employed at KFUN/KLVF Radio Station, owned by Joseph and Loretta Baca, at the time of his death.

Doyle Hauschulz is remembered for his ability to fix anything electronic, but not just anywhere. Where he lived was very important! Back in the 70's Doyle strapped a snow shovel to the front of his truck, and drove South into New Mexico until someone, referring to the snow shovel, would ask, "What's that?" He smiled and unpacked in Las Vegas, New Mexico, "in spite" of the weather.
