Elena Gutierrez, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother was called to her eternal resting place on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. She entered this world on Wednesday, September 21, 1938, in Sabinoso, NM, she was born to Cleofes and Ramoncita Martinez-Sanchez. She was released from her earthly bonds and embraced eternal life, earning the peace she had sought and deserved.

Elena is survived by her CHILDREN, JoAnn, Juan, Cecilia (Sam), Catarino (Christina), Cleofes (Lisa), Lucille (James), Raymond (Stacey), Chris (Sandi), Helen (Martin), and George (Tamy), GRANDCHILDREN, Johnny (Sandra), Steven (Amber), Jonathan (Zabrina), Jeremiah (Celina), Issac (Vanessa), Misti, Daryl, Christopher (Angelica), Twila (Erick), Christian (Riata), Hilaria (Kutter), Celica (Kenneth), Merleen, Xochitl, Brianna, Cassandra, Savannah, Hailey, Jay, Gillianne, Marcus. GREAT-GRAND-CHILDREN, River, Cruz, Jonathan, Aycen, Makayla, Klansey, Zacariah, Alaric, Zarianna, Kwncy, Zane, Cedar, Olivia, River, Komanche, Camryn, Kissimee, Zaryion, Eros, Emryn, Brandon, and Lily; brother-in-law Pat and wife Katie Gutierrez, God children, Beverly, Patrick, Johnny and Hilaria and her devoted nephew and niece Ramon & Alice Gutierrez, loving cousins from California, (children of the late Tio Ramon and Tia Luciana Sanchez-Lujan), Cathy Salazar a loving caregiver. Elena also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Elena was predeceased by her parents Cleofes and Ramoncita Sanchez, the love of her life, husband Cristobal, her four baby angels, her beloved brother Benjamin Sanchez, her in-laws Catarino and Demetria Gutierrez, God son, Ernest Gutierrez and sons-in-law Johnny A. Jaramillo and Daryl Armenta.

Elena was known for her tireless dedication to friends and neighbors and the church. Elena, her cousins Mabel, Moises, and son-in-law Daryl (all deceased) spent many hours renovating Nuestra Senor de Guadalupe Catholic church in Sabinoso NM. She was always available to lend a hand and enjoyed gardening a variety of fruits, vegetables and flowers. Elena in her younger years looked forward to the harvesting of chili, as she prepared herself and took pride in making ristras de chili to sell and for home use. She enjoyed making homemade meals with vegetables from her garden. Elena had a gift for blessing others with her thoughtfulness, whether it be homemade jelly or homemade pies. Her hobbies also included word search, embroidering and quilting. She enjoyed traveling with her children throughout the US, Germany, and Spain and always travelled with a bottle of Mentholatum and Vicks by her side.

Elena took joy in caring for her elderly parents & brother. She lived by the motto that family is the most important thing in life. Her touch, smile and kindness are the things we will dearly miss and think of everyday.

A Rosary will be recited on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 5:00 pm at Rogers Mortuary Chapel in Las Vegas, NM.

The mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 10:00 am at Nuestra Senor de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Sabinoso, NM with Father Agustin officiating. The interment will follow at Sabinoso Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, Johnny, Steven, Jonathan, Jermiah, Issac, Christopher & Christian. There will be a reception immediately following the burial at the church to celebrate the life of Our Beautiful Mother.
