Eloy Gonzales, known affectionately as "The Man, The Myth, The Legend," passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, at the age of 89, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on August 6, 1935, in San Pablo, New Mexico, Eloy was the beloved son of Juan Gonzales and Secondina Aragon.
Eloy proudly earned an associate's degree as a Radiology Technician from Santa Fe Hospital in 1965. He dedicated nearly three decades serving Las Vegas Hospital and the State Hospital with compassion and professionalism until his retirement in 1998.
Together with his beloved wife, Enedine, Eloy graced the choir of Immaculate Conception Church for 25 years. Their 63-year marriage was a testament to love and devotion. Eloy was a devoted parishioner and crusillista, always advocating for faith and forgiveness.
Eloy's legacy lives in his children son Adrian Gonzales (Michelle), and daughter Novella. Seven beloved grandchildren, Steven Martinez, Adrian Gonzales, Arthur Geoffrion, Jessica Gonzales, Carlos Gonzales, Tamara Montoya and Adriana Gonzales and five adored great-grandchildren, Curtis Gonzales, Kylie Gonzales, Jaxon Geoffrion, Madison Geoffrion and Eli Ward. Living siblings, brother Gilbert Gonzales (Linda), sisters Pauline Gonzales and Beatrice Jiron. Deceased siblings Eloy Gonzales (Aurora) and Rose Lucero (Gilbert). Numerous Godchildren, family and friends. Very special God daughter Kaye Hartzler.
Eloy will be remembered at the Recreation Center for his daily workouts, that was his home away from home. Eloy was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys, win or lose. "How about dem Cowboys". Known for his outgoing personality, sense of humor, memorable nicknames, and his dedication to the community. Eloy coached the Foodtown Senior League Baseball team for many years and considered every player as family. He was also an avid supporter of the West Las Vegas Dons.
Eloy had many favorite quotes such as "My Help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth." Eloy's legacy of love, laughter, and faith will forever live on.
Services celebrating Eloy's life include a Rosary on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 7:00 pm and Funeral Mass on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 9:00 am, both to be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM, followed by Christian burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steven Martinez, Adrian Gonzales, Arthur Geoffrion, Carlos Gonzales, Curtis Gonzales, Eli Ward, Damian Palomino.
