Ernest Gutierrez, 64, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend entered into eternal rest on October 19, 2025, at Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, surrounded by loving family at his side. He was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Frederico Gutierrez and Ida Salas.

A longtime resident of Wagon Mound, New Mexico, Ernest enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, camping, hunting, and metal detecting. He loved to dance to country and northern New Mexico music, especially Sangre Joven. Spending time with his grandkids, cruising the back roads, and visiting with family and friends were his favorite pastimes. He had a gift for helping others see their own potential, offering encouragement and wisdom with unwavering confidence becoming an inspiration to many. As hard as he was on the outside, he loved even harder. He was a 49er Faithful and never missed a kickoff. He had a gift for carpentry and enjoyed home improvement projects.

Ernest was preceded in death by his father Frederico Gutierrez, his brother Alonzo Gutierrez, and infant brother Benny Gutierrez, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, mother-in-law Rose Estrada and father-in-law Donaciano Estrada.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife Jeanette, his children Luis Gutierrez (Jamesha), Nathan Gutierrez, and Amanda Grado (Alex), his grandchildren Alexa, Kalub, Destiny, Aubrie, Jaylynn, and Anabelle, his mother Ida Salas (Chris), his siblings Dwayne Gutierrez, Lorraine Ramon (Cesar), and Monica Salas (Adam), brothers in law Marvin Estrada and Don Estrada (Angel), sister in law Theresa Estrada (M. Myers), special cousins Eleanor Chavez (Ralph) and Lucy Gutierrez, beloved aunt Ferminia Morales, numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services, per Ernest's wishes, will be held at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM. Rosary devotional services will be on Monday, November 3rd at 7:00pm at St. Gertrude Church in Mora. Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, November 4th at 10:00am at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM, with the following serving as urn bearers: Nathan Gutierrez, James Gutierrez and Pat Trujillo. Interment will follow at La Cueva Cemetery.
