Ernest E. Reed Jr. was born in Los Angeles, California on August 5, 1954. He remained in Los Angeles until he graduated high school and then joined the Army. In 2004 Ernest moved to Las Vegas, New Mexico and stayed here because he enjoyed the community. He cared for one of the landscaped areas around the plaza, picking up trash, weeding, and took pride in keeping the area clean. He enjoyed learning and attended some classes at Luna Community College. Some of his other interests included word search puzzles, wood working, gardening, watching movies, and listening to music.

We would like to thank the staff at NMBHI, specifically the Ponderosa and SPU units for providing Ernest with a comfortable and loving life.

He will be laid to rest in Santa Fe at the National Cemetery on April 17, 2018. Before he is taken to hi final resting place, there will be a small service in the Willow room at NMBHI at 10 A.M with Father George V. Salazar.
