Ernesto Hurtado, 81, resident of Ribera, NM, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at his home.  He was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico on January 14, 1942 to the late Locario and Florinda Hurtado.

He is preceded in death by his parents Locario and Florinda Hurtado; siblings Mary Rose Garcia, Pete Hurtado, Julio Hurtado Nicasio Hurtado; grandchildren Gabriel DeLeon, Eli DeLeon, Crystal DeLeon; great-grandchildren Gabriel Josiah DeLeon.

He is survived by his wife Camila Hurtado; sons Henry Hurtado, Edward Hurtado; daughters Charleen Benavidez, Cindy Hurtado, Tracy Hurtado and husband Andres; Grandchildren Amber DeLeon Luera, Ivette Benavidez, Geronimo Jr. Benavidez, Daniel Benavidez, Marlo Griego, Melissa Hurtado, Raymond Hurtado, Jacob Hurtado, Antoinette Hurtado, Mari Romero, Alysia Gallegos, Jared Gallegos, Megan Lopez, Santana Sandoval, and Jimmy Sandoval; Great Grandkids Dazza DeLeon, Jazyln DeLeon, Irwin Rodriguez, Gabby DeLeon, Angelina Ontiveroz, Ismael Ontiveroz, Evan Joel Benavidez, Joseph Lopez Jr., Anthony Ernest Lopez, Nevaeh Benavidez, Santino Benavidez, Bryanna DeLeon, Aliyah Torres, Isaiah Torres; Great great grandchild Elliot E Raybush, Zamaya Hurtado, Francisco Saiz, Arielle Saiz, John Bubba Griego, Sara Griego, Cataleya Gallegos, Letissya Gallegos, Meliton Benavidez. Natalie Gonzales; siblings Locario Jr. Hurtado and wife Corrine, Paula Lucas and husband Tony, Teresa Hurtado, Pina Lopez; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Ernesto was retired and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  A lifetime catholic, Ernesto was a member of San Miguel Del Vado in Ribera, New Mexico.

A Rosary will be recited on Monday, February 20, 2023 at 7:00 pm at San Miguel Del Vado Catholic Church located at Sagebush Way Ribera, NM.

Mass will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 1:30pm also at San Miguel Del Vado Catholic Church Sagebush Way Ribera, NM with  Father Moses serving as Celebrant.

Interment to follow at San Miguel Vado Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers Jared Gallegos, Joey Quintana, Conrad Sandoval, Elias Montano, John Bubba Griego, Jimmy Sandoval; Honorary Pallbearers Geronimo Benavidez, Daniel Benavidez, and Raymond Hurtado.
