Escolastica Martinez age 91, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, NM passed away at the family home surrounded by her family on Friday, September 1, 2023.

She was born to Feliciano and Ida (Medina) Trujillo on October 15, 1931 in Los Vallecitos.

Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband: Juan S. Martinez; son: Johnny Martinez; daughters: Mary Martinez and Betty Martinez; granddaughter: Michaela Martinez; grandson: Brian Martinez; brothers: Robert Trujillo, Willie Trujillo; sister: Melinda Cugliat.

Mrs. Martinez is survived by her loving children: Jimmy (Bertha), Leroy (Roma), Ida (Gilbert), Carmen (Melvin), Ruby (Carlos), Ester (Larry), Joan and Ivan (Peggy). She is also survived by a total of 157 to include grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Escolastica is also survived by her brothers: Feliciano (Fiddie) and George (MaryAnn); sisters: Josephine (Richard), Elsie and Susie (Luis); numerous: other relatives, and special friends; brother – in –law: Ed Cugliat and Berna Trujillo, Father Paul Grala and Sister Esperanza.

Rosary service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 7:00pm. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00am both services will be held at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM with Dale Craig S.O.L.T as celebrant.

Interment will follow at San Antonio Cemetery in Cleveland, NM with the following serving as pallbearers Ricky Martinez, Mario Martinez, Jaime Martinez, Rob Albaugh, Travis Martinez and Devondre Cordova. Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of her grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
