Our beloved husband, dad, grandfather and brother Eugene "Gene" Esquibel, age 71 and a resident of Tecolote, NM, went home to be with our lord on Wednesday, March 31,2021. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final moments.

Eugene was born on June 26, 1949 to the late Marcella Pacheco and Jose Antonio Esquibel in Las Vegas, NM. After his father passed, he went to work in California with his uncle. He later returned to graduate from Robertson High School and went on to get his journeyman license at the age of 19. He retired from the Carpenter's union after 25 years and went on to work for The Land of Enchantment ranch as a foreman until 2018.

He will be lovingly remembered as the man with the biggest heart. He was always willing to help a stranger and make new friends. He made sure to always have an open door for anyone that needed it. Feeding everyone and anyone that visited his home. He loved to be outdoors hunting and enjoying nature. Having spent a lot of time with family and friends he will be greatly missed.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife: Mabel Esquibel of the family home in Tecolote NM; daughters: Carmen Romero and Iris Vigil of Albuquerque NM; four granddaughters who he thought the world of: Anjelíque Romero of Tecolote NM, Anyssa Romero-Lucero (Diego Lucero), great grandson Aiden Lucero all of Las Vegas NM, Iliana Jauregui  of Albuquerque NM and Isabella Vigil-Esquibel of Albuquerque NM; sister: Virginia Esquibel; brothers: Richard Esquibel (Diane Martinez), Victor Esquibel and youngest sister: Lucille Trujillo (Marvin) all of Tecolote, NM; special nieces: Amanda Esquibel (goddaughter) and Amy Esquibel-Martinez. All of his Godchildren: Sharon Esquibel, Gary Esquibel, Antonio Pacheco, Diego Lopez, Marvin Denis Esquibel, Amberlyn Pacheco and Alma Martinez. Among that he had many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends that he leaves behind.

Eugene is predeceased in death by his parents: Marcella Pacheco and Jose Antonio Esquibel; brothers: Anthony Esquibel, Dennis Esquibel, Fred Esquibel, and Leonard Esquibel; In-laws: Juan and Rosana Vigil and stepson: Roger Alvarado.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and special thanks to his previous home health nurses Clifford Robinson and Crystal Lopez, his current nurses Andrea Yee and Chelsea Trujillo as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at Christus St. Vincent Cancer Center, Christus St. Vincent Hospital, Alta Vista Hospital, the staff at Lincare, his case managers Amanda Peters, Mandy Pratt and all who went above and beyond their duties to provide the best care possible.

Rosary services via live stream on Monday April 5 ^th , 2021 at 6PM. Funeral mass will be held at 9AM on April 6 ^th , 2021 at Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Due to Covid 19 attendance is limited to family only. Masks are required.

Interment will follow at Tecolote Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jacob Knezevich, Domingo Deniz, Greg Tapia, Gilbert Armijo, Ernest Sanchez, and Tim Arellano. Honorary Pallbearers will be all his godchildren.
