Obituary

Everett Lee "Bud" Atkins, aged 88, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, passed away on February 16, 2024. He was born on November 17, 1935, in San Diego, CA.

Bud was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Korean Conflict. During his service he met his future wife, Dorothy Maese (Warfield), of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Bud pursued a career in Business Administration and Substance Abuse Counseling, eventually becoming the Director of Treatment at Sundown M. Ranch in Selah, WA. He also worked for the State of Washington, Department of Alcohol and Substance Abuse. He was an alumnus of Franklin High School in Seattle, WA, and held a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington, along with Master's from Washington State University. Outside of his professional life, Bud found joy in various hobbies, including hunting, fishing, and being an avid fan of football and baseball. He also found solace in his Catholic faith, worshipping at local Catholic churches.

Bud is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Atkins, and his children: Cynthia Bergman of Centralia, WA, Everett "Lee" Atkins of Brady, Mt, Stephen Warfield (Sandy), Albuquerque, Phillip Warfield (Anita) Las Vegas, NM and John Warfield of Colorado Springs. CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Everett Lee Atkins, Sr., and his sister, Anita Oakes. A man of honor and dedication, Bud Atkins will be dearly missed by his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 7:00pm, Funeral mass will be conducted on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 9:30am both services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM with Father Dennis Garcia as celebrant.

Interment will be on Friday, March 15, 2024 at 2:00pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM.
