It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Federico Luis Michael Saiz on August 19, 2026 at the age of 39.

Born to Rosemary “Marie” and John “Larry” Saiz in Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1987, Rico was a beloved father, brother, son, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He is survived by his children Ariela and Francisco Saiz; mother Rosemary Saiz; sisters Elena Chavez (Marcus Salazar), Martina Armijo (Zachary), and Esperanza Saiz (Steven Pohl); nieces Maya Gurule and Alyssa Salazar; and the mother of his children Melissa Hurtado. He was preceded in death by his father Larry Saiz and sister Maria Chavez.

Rico was a lifelong resident of Villanueva, NM. He attended Valley Elementary and Middle School and graduated from West Las Vegas High School in 2005. He served northern New Mexico as an electrician, journeyman, and contractor. Rico was a lifelong student of life, ever seeking enlightenment and pursuing knowledge. He enjoyed playing and listening to music of all genres, exploring the spiritual and esoteric, playing videos games with his son, and writing creative fiction. He was a proud father, a hard worker, and a beloved member of his family and community.

A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Villanueva, NM, burial of cremains will follow at Villanueva Cemetery with the following as Urn bearers: Ariela Saiz, Francisco Saiz, Elena Chavez, Rosemary Saiz. with a meal to follow at El Valle Community Center.
