Flora M. Rice, age 86, was called home to be with our Lord on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Morning Star at Jordan Assisted Living in Centennial, Colorado. A life-long practicing Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church.

She was born on August 15, 1939, in Las Vegas, NM. She was preceded in death by her dad, Delfido Lucero, mom Aurora Lucero, husband Jerry Rice, sisters Ambrosia Sanchez (Abran), Marcella Martinez (Nestor), Tommie Roybal (Gilbert), brothers Casimiro Lucero (Sadie), Salvador Lucero (Helen), Benjamin Lucero, David Lucero, and her dog Sandy that she loved very much.

She is survived by her daughter, Catherine Irish and husband Sean Irish, sisters Tina Ulibarri (Tony), Viola Lopez, Demie Lucero, and Charlotte Lucero. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She graduated from high school in May 1959 and then took a job at Sabe's Drug store in October 1959 to support the family. After 7 years she worked at Montgomery Wards and during this time she met the love of her life, Jerry Rice. They were married on August 14, 1971. She then worked at the 1st National Bank of Las Vegas, and while they lived in San Jon, NM she worked at the Tucumcari National Bank. She was outgoing and she enjoyed making beaded jewelry, traveling, reading, and baking.

A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, August 27, 2025 with Fr. Timothy Meurer as Celebrant. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Serving as Pallbearers are Bob Escher, Michael Martinez, Benjie Lopez, Gil (Ron) Gallegos, George Lucero, Matthew Janssen and Eddie Atencio.
