Frances Lucero, 76, of Las Vegas New Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.

Frances was born on January 21, 1947, in Las Vegas, NM to Rafael and Rosa Gonzales. She is preceded in death by her husband Bonifacio (Barney) Lucero, her mother Rosa Gonzales, and her father Rafael Gonzales. Frances is survived by her daughter Theresa Montoya and husband Valentino Montoya, grandsons Antonio Montoya, Alex Montoya and her brother Benny (Huga) Gonzales, along with numerous other relatives and friends.

Frances graduated from Robertson High School, moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where she worked in health care during her residence there. She returned to her home in New Mexico to care for her mother, to be there for the remaining years of her life.

Frances was a devout Catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She valued her faith and it was important to her to pass on the beliefs to her family. She didn't take for granted her days here on earth and trusted in the Lord with all her heart.

Frances loved visiting with her family and cooking for them. Her grandsons were the apples of her eye and she supplied them with all the sweets they wanted because she was their Granny, she could. She was a role model of strength, perseverance, and determination for her daughter. She raised her daughter to work hard for what she wanted and to stand up for herself. She enjoyed spending her free time playing bingo and connecting with her friends. She adopted and spoiled her pet cats, they were her trusted companions. She donated to many organizations and worthy causes sponsored by the community. Conversing with Frances would lead to laughter, smiles, and she didn't hesitate to let you know how she felt, whether you liked it or not. She was known for her sense of humor, big heart, and often shared memories of her youth and how times "used to be". She was loved and will be missed by many. Her absence will be felt in the depths of her family's soul.

Rosary service will be held on Monday, January 8, 2024 at 7:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, NM. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 9:00 am also at Immaculate Conception Church. Interment will follow at Santo Nino Cemetary in Los Alamitos, NM with the following serving as Pallbearers:  Antonio Montoya, Alex Montoya, Martin Gallegos, Domingo Madrid, Lawrence Gonzales, and David George Romero.
