September 2, 1955 - July 16, 2022

Frank J. Martinez, Esq. age 66, a lifetime resident of Mora County passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at his home in El Alto, Mora, New Mexico.

He was born on September 2, 1955 to Francisco M. Martinez and Maria Dolores Pino Martinez in Mora County. Frank was a loving father and grandfather and a great son, brother, uncle and friend. Frank was a member of St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM. where he served as a lector and a member of the Finance Council.

Frank held a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies, Master's Degree in Social Work and Juris Doctor Degree. Frank enjoyed reading, gardening, and cooking. There were a lot of ways his hobbies brought him joy and balance. There were also a lot of ways his hobbies and education intersected. Frank worked as the Assistant D.A. as well as a private attorney and in a variety of counsel and advisory capacities. Sometimes the kitchen became a courtroom where a challenge of wit and word would take place for anyone who would accept, whether they be sibling, guest, or toddler. His library of mystery thrillers, local art, and neck tie collection carried a vibe of the life he built exploring the mysteries in our own world and finding a way to reveal truth and justice in our community. Just as heat cannot be separated from the flame, Franks contributions to his family and community can't be tied to one aspect of his work or joys. His soft yet deep voice in the courtroom or at the pulpit carried the same caring and witty spirit that laughed at the dinner table over tamales that he made or sitting out in the garden that he tended. He was very generous, he gave of himself, he included people, and with this, he lived and he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Francisco and Dolores; Maternal Grandparents: Antonio Jesus Pino and Perfecta Maes Pino; Paternal Grandparents: Francisco Martinez Sr. and Louisita Romo Martinez. He is survived by his daughter Kristy Martinez; grandchildren: Estevan Chavez, Mariana Chavez, Arabella Martinez and Lorenzo Romero. brothers and sisters: David Martinez (Margaret), Antonio Pino (Debra), Mell Pino, Robert Martinez, Mary Louise Montoya, Albert Martinez (Patsy), Cathy Gonzales, Leroy Martinez; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Andrea Martinez and Deanna Gold who cared for Frank with tenderness and love.

Rosary will be recited on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 7p.m. at St. .Gertrude Church in Mora, NM.

Funeral Mass will be on Monday July 25, 2022 at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude Church in Mora, NM.

Interment will follow at Mora Cemetery in Mora, NM.
