It is with deep sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Georgia Garcia, who passed away on September 13, 2026 at the age of 85.
Georgia was born on April 30, 1941 in San Jose, NM to Ramon and Eleanor Salazar. Georgia was a lifelong resident of San Jose, NM and a devoted member of San Miguel Del Vado Parish where she served as Mayordomo of the San Jose Mission Church on several occasions. Georgia was the youngest of six siblings and the daughter of a business and rancher family; she was a beloved, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, Godmother and friend whose life touched the hearts of many.
Georgia will be remembered for her kindness, faith, generosity, humor, strength, devotion to family, and her dedication for her children’s education. Georgia instilled in her children the importance of obtaining an education, investing her time in her children’s educational development at an early age. Her children were all excellent students, not by accident, but by the investment Georgia made to ensure her children learned and enjoyed their education. Georgia was well educated in history, geography and mathematics. She passed that knowledge and dedication to education down to her children by reading to them, introducing them to books, such as Aesop’s fables, National Geographic Magazine and Funk and Wagnalls Encyclopedias. Georgia was a great judge of character and politely, sometimes not so politely, expressed her character assessment. She had a saying when it came to character, “Some are wise, some are otherwise.” Georgia especially enjoyed listening to the Holy Rosary on KFUN every morning and again every evening on EWTN. She enjoyed putting together family photo albums, watching family home videos, and listening to New Mexico Music.
Georgia was preceded in death by her Parents Ramon and Eleanor Salazar, In-laws Daniel and Julianita Garcia, Brother Margarito Salazar and wife Mary, sister-in-law Irmy Salazar, sister Lucy Gonzales, and sister Tommie Lopez and husband Hilario.
Georgia leaves behind a loving family, including, Husband, Joe Trini Garcia of the family home, sons Jeffrey Garcia (Elizabeth) of San Antonio, TX, Gary Garcia (Carla) of Oro Valley, AZ, Darrell Garcia (Janet) of Rio Rancho, NM, Marvin Garcia (Christi) of Schaumburg, IL, daughter Elionor Garcia of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Celia Joos (Jessie) of Flagstaff, AZ, Andrea Garcia of Houston, TX, Amalia Garcia of Phoenix, AZ, Daniel Garcia and Lucas Garcia of Oro Valley, AZ and Amalea Garcia of Schaumburg, IL; brother Ramon Salazar of Vacaville, CA, sister Gloria Lopez of San Leandro, CA and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Although our hearts are heavy, we are grateful for the life Georgia lived and for the memories that will remain with us forever. Her love, wisdom, and presence will continue to live on through everyone whose life she touched.
