With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gloria M. Muniz of Cleveland, NM, who entered eternal rest on May 20, 2026.

Gloria was born on July 8, 1945, in Santa Fe, NM, to the late Estevan N. Vigil and Fidelia Lujan-Vigil.

A woman of many talents and simple pleasures, Gloria found great joy in sewing, solving jigsaw puzzles, and watching Jeopardy! and Days of Our Lives. Above all, she expressed her deep love through her cooking and baking, which were truly beyond belief. Her home was a place of endless warmth; she baked brownies, cakes, and pastelitos with pure devotion. No one ever visited Gloria without leaving with a sweet dessert or a jar of her famous capulín or apricot-pineapple jelly. Her nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Gloria was reunited in heaven with her parents, Estevan and Fidelia Vigil; her brothers, Evaristo, Gilbert, Antonio, and Felix Vigil; her sisters, Rosalia (Frank) Pacheco, Erlinda Vigil, and Theresa (Jim) Miller; and her in-laws, Sam and Eulalia Muniz, Antonia (Louis) Weathers, Eva Pino, Eutimia Muniz, Juan Muniz, Leroy Muniz, Delores (Joe) Weathers, and Anita Martinez.

She was the devoted heart of her family and is survived by her husband of over sixty years, Samuel G. Muniz. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised four daughters: Frances, Dolores, Anita, and Jennifer (Robert). Her legacy lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Victoria, Kimberly and Jessie (Kendra); her precious great-grandchildren, Gracey, Ezekiel, and Elliott. She is also survived by her brother, George E. Vigil of Los Alamos, NM; sister-in-law, Irene Vigil of Denver, CO; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Dorothy Muniz of Mora, NM, Josephine Cruz (Leroy) of Las Vegas, NM, and David Muniz (Vaughn) of Albuquerque, NM; along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Services will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Mora, NM. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. Gloria will be laid to rest at San Antonio Cemetery in Cleveland, NM. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather afterward to celebrate her life at a reception and luncheon at the Mora VFW Post 1131.
