It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our brother Gregory John Brizal on March 3, 2025. Greg was born on June 24, 1969, to Malaquias and Lucy Brizal in Las Vega, NM.

He was preceded in death by his parents Malaquias and Lucy Brizal, his siblings Jesus Brizal, Priscilla Riggs, and Doris Silva, his nephews Paul Gonzales and Brian Brizal., his special great nieces Jacqueline and Selena Gonzales, as well as various aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his sisters Maxine Gonzales and husband Ralph, Annette Brizal, Epple Rivas and husband Robert, and Gina Urioste and husband Wilfred, and several nieces and nephews.

After receiving his GED, Greg went to Cosmetology school. After working in several salons, he opened his own salon, Dimensions, in Las Vegas. He also had a passion for cooking so he decided to pursue an associate's degree in culinary arts at Central New Mexico Community College. Due to his disability, he was unable to complete his associate degree at Central New Mexico. Even so, he worked as a sous chef as well as a chef in various restaurants in Las Vegas, Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

Greg was a kind soul and touched the hearts of many people. He was always willing to help others no matter his personal circumstances. As Billy Joel sings in the Piano Man Greg was always "quick a joke or to light up your smoke…" and he always shared his smile and what he had. Many people said how much they were going to miss him and how his kindness touched them deep inside. He will be missed.

Services will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, NM, beginning with a Rosary at 9:00 am followed by Mass of Christian burial. Interment of cremains to follow at Saint Anthony's Cemetery.
