With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Guillermo Alex Montoya, age 79 on March 27, 2026. He was born February 24, 1947 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
Alex is preceded in death by his sons Christopher and Randy, and the mother of his children Mabel Montoya. Also his parents Pablo and Margarita Montoya, his paternal grandparents Cipriano and Celestina Montoya, his maternal grandparents Alejandro and Aurelia Montoya, his siblings Flora, Lilly, Eloisa, Armando, Valentine and Jose Ignacio. Nephews Paul and Fernando.
Alex is survived by his daughters Alexsandra Montoya and Marie Rodriguez. His grandchildren Angelo and Angelique. His siblings Donilla and Chonita. Nieces Amy(Conrad), Claudine, Stefanie, Margaret, Sandra(Wayne), Annamarie(Paul), Martha(Ricardo), Debbie, Regina (Brian) and Abrelia(Benjamin). Nephews, Carlos Montoya, Pablo(Addie), Dennis(Cindy),Mario, Peter(Lesley), Sammy(Priscilla), Anthony, Gino, Ernie(Henrietta), Armando(Angie), Michael(Vera), Val(Dina), Leon and Jose and lastly his beloved and loyal pet and companion Chico.
Alex attended school in Los Montoyas and served as a Socio of San Antonio de Padua Church. He retired from Sierra Transit where he was employed as a truck driver. There was a time when he owned and operated his own trucking company. When he was able, he enjoyed his family, fishing, hunting, the casino and especially home cooked meals.
On April 13, 2026 at 10:00 AM, a Communion Service will be held at San Antonio de Padua Mission Church in Los Montoyas with Deacon Reyes Sanchez as celebrant. Interment of Alex's cremains will follow at Los Montoyas Cemetery. Serving as urn bearers are Sandra Griego and Sam Salas. Honorary urn bearers are Alex's lifelong friends Luciano Vigil and James Tapia.
While Alex was a very private person, he will be remembered, missed and loved by those who knew him. Alex had a special place in his heart for each person in his life.
The family extends great gratitude to Mark Rogers and Rogers Mortuary staff for assisting us with so much kindness and compassion. And to Carlos C. Montoya as his caregiver and to Louella Jaramillo(Drew) for being such great neighbors to Alex.
