Herminia
Flores
May 22, 1945 – April 17, 2026
Herminia Flores (née Salinas), lovingly known as “Minnie,” a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 22, 1945, in San Saba, Texas, to Esther and Amada Salinas.
Herminia was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Daniel R. Flores, who passed in 1990; her sisters, Manuela Salinas of San Saba, Texas, Florencia Salinas of San Saba, Texas, Lillia Lopez of Lubbock, Texas, Beatrice Hall of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and Isabelle Von Theumer of Lubbock, Texas; and her brothers, Richard Salinas of Las Vegas, New Mexico, Valdo Salinas of Bell Gardens, California, and Raul Salinas of San Saba, Texas.
She is survived by her sister, Sara Fieldgrove of Lubbock, Texas; her son, James Flores and wife Delfina of Tucson, Arizona; and her daughters, Julia Parsons and husband David of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Rebecca Encinias and husband Daryll of Las Vegas, New Mexico. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Herminia was a proud grandmother to Lauren Martinez and fiancé Colton of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Ali Mares of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Delio Encinias of Las Vegas, New Mexico; Gabriel Encinias and Dylan Encinias of Las Vegas, New Mexico; Jesse Flores of Thornton, Colorado; Aaron Parsons of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Aubry Mares Parsons of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and to Haydn and Brennan Parsons, whom she loved as her own.
She is also survived by special friends Velia Garcia of Las Vegas, Nevada, Ruby Trujillo of Mora, New Mexico, and Bobbie Stanley of Kissimmee, Florida; and her dear friend Joan Gallegos of Las Vegas, New Mexico, whom she met at Skies Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque.
Minnie was a devoted homemaker for much of her life. In the 1980s, she worked as a housekeeper at Angel Fire Resort. In the 1990s, she worked at Northeastern Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico and at Lowe’s Bakery. She later served as a “grandma” for West Las Vegas Schools in Las Vegas, New Mexico, and as a Volunteer Senior Companion at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute, where her warmth and kindness touched many lives.
She loved to dance and was rarely still, bringing joy and laughter wherever she went. Minnie enjoyed music by Don Williams, Ricky Nelson, Elvis Presley, The Mavericks, Michael Jackson, and Marco Antonio Solís. She was an incredible cook, known especially for her famous caldito and menudo, and delighted in sneaking sweets to her grandchildren when their parents weren’t looking.
Herminia had a natural sense of humor—often without even trying—and her playful expressions, laughter, and lively spirit will be deeply missed. She made a lasting impression on everyone she met. The staff at Skies Rehabilitation Center in Albuquerque adored her and will fondly remember her signature red lipstick, her jewelry, and her sassiness—she kept them smiling and was truly a joy to be around.
Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish the many memories they shared with her. She will be deeply missed and will live on in their hearts and memories until they meet again.
