Ignacio Gutierrez Jr., a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away at his home in El Pueblo, NM on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.
Ignacio was born in El Pueblo, NM on March 8, 1932 to the late Ignacio Gutierrez and Juanita Chavez Gutierrez. Ignacio was known for being a loving family man, devout Catholic, farmer, and rancher. He cherished sharing these passions with everyone, but most especially with his family, the light of his life.
He is preceded in death by his grandson, Nathan Gutierrez; son-in-law Billy J. Gutierrez; parents, Ignacio and Juanita Gutierrez; siblings, Elfido Gutierrez, Mary Duran, Alex Gutierrez, Tony Gutierrez, Dolores Gallegos, Paul Gutierrez, Fannie Tafoya and Amelia (Molly) Romero.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of nearly 70 years, Amalia Gutierrez; five children, Leroy Gutierrez (Brenda), Geraldine E. Gutierrez (Rudy), James Nash Gutierrez, Frank Gutierrez (Isabel), and Brian Gutierrez (Dottie); sister, Rita Medina; nine grandchildren, Kenny Gutierrez, Alexandra Engelke (Chris), Samuel Gutierrez (Jessica), James Gutierrez, Janelle Gutierrez (Daniel), Krystal Heras (Armando), Brittany Archuleta (Ty), Gabrielle Gutierrez (Chris), Allen Gutierrez; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Gutierrez family would like to extend a very special thanks to the following nurses who helped care for Ignacio: Amy Chavez, Yvonne Medina, Eileen Barr, Antoinette Frank, JupethDulalas, Shandel Jaramillo-Valdez, Judy Montoya, Yvonne Gomez, and Michelle Marenkov.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December, 19, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in San Miguel, NM. Father Vincent Dominguez will preside over the mass and burial at San Antonio Cemetery in El Pueblo, NM. Serving as pallbearers will be: Samuel Gutierrez, James Gutierrez, Daniel Hyde, Armando Heras, Ty Archuleta, Pat Gutierrez, Christian Gutierrez, and Robert Gutierrez. Honorary pallbearers will be the rest of his grandchildren.
