Isabel Benavidez, age 90, was born on March 4, 1935, in Las Vegas, New Mexico, to Virginio Coca and Guadalupe De La O-Coca. She was peacefully called to her eternal rest on December 12, 2025, a day made especially meaningful as it coincided with the Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Isabel was a devout Catholic whose faith guided every aspect of her life. She faithfully served her church community at Our Lady of Sorrows and Immaculate Conception Church, where she helped lead the choir and prayer group. Known by many as a true "prayer warrior," Isabel was a source of spiritual strength, comfort, and encouragement to all who knew her.
Isabel found joy in singing, playing the guitar, and painting. She especially cherished teaching her grandchildren how to sing, paint, and prepare family recipes. Above all, Isabel loved spending time with her family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Isabel is survived by her four children: Louie Benavidez; Leroy Benavidez and his wife Carla; Rick Benavidez; and Yolanda Benavidez. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great joy in her life.
Isabel Benavidez will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her unwavering faith, generous heart, and the legacy of love she leaves behind.
A Rosary will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Pallbearers will be Manuel Benavidez, Leroy Benavidez, James Benavidez, Andrew Benavidez, Jesse Archuleta, Isaiah Roybal, Chace Dabney, and Nick Benavidez. Cremation will take place after services and burial will be at a later date.
