James Paul Garza, age 37, a longtime resident of Tecolote, NM, passed to his eternal rest on Monday, February 2, 2026. He was born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, October 9, 1988 to Paul and Annette Garza.

He was employed at the NMBHI and Southwest Senior Care / Vida Encantada caring for the elderly and mentally challenged. He was known for his musical talent, his kind and caring soul and sense of humor, he touched the lives of so many people of all walks of life.

He enjoyed music, singing, playing and recording. He played with many musical artists. He played various instruments but was known for playing keyboard and accordion.

James was preceded in death by his father Paul Garza, Grandfather Robert Garza, Great Grandparents Geronimo & Josie Garza, Great-Great Grandparents Genaro and Lucia Garza. Grandmother Tillie Jordan, Uncle Preston Garza, stepson Santiago Lopez, and Great Uncle Tony Quintana.

He is survived by his children Roberto Garza, Damian Montoya, Amaziah Garza, and stepson Ben Lujan. His loving mother Annette Garza, sister Angel Garza, Nephew Antonio Sanchez, Niece Rayne and Nephew Liam, grandmother's Viola Pena and MaryAnn Garza, uncle Ellery Peña (Monique Lovato), auntie Donna Valdez (Tony Valdez), girlfriend Ashley Fernandez and numerous great uncles, aunts, cousins, many other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 3:00-4:30PM at Rogers Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday morning February 23rd at 10 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, 2207 7th St., Las Vegas N.M. with Pastor James Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at the Garza Family Cemetery in Tecolote N.M. Serving as honorary bearers: Michael Nichols, Miguel Lozano, Ellery Peña, Antonio Sanchez, Austin Garza, Justin Garza, Geraldine Sandoval, Brianna Garza, Lucas Garza, Anthony Quintana, Curtis Pacheco, Raymond Montoya, Brandon Sandoval and Phillip Valdez.
