James Patrick Romero

With heavy hearts and great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew and special friend James Patrick Romero, age 55. James passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family.

James retired from LVCS as a maintenance worker and electrician in 2023. He continued to umpire college and high school softball which he enjoyed. James was also employed as a special education aide for LVCS and a code enforcement officer with the City of Las Vegas. James was a graduate of LCC where he obtained his degree to become an electrician. He graduated from Robertson High School in 1989 and went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp.

James was a very caring and outspoken person in what he believed. He was always willing and available to help anyone who asked from his family to friends and in the community. James was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, the Las Vegas Little League and at the VFW. He enjoyed being a sports announcer on the radio and at the games. James extensive collection of memorabilia showed he was an avid fan of NASCAR and the Philadelphia Eagles. James loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing with his friends. He was also a member of the local polar bear club. James was very talented in all of his arts and crafts and woodworking projects that he enjoyed making.

James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Erminio and Julia Martinez and his paternal grandparents Margarito Romero and Mary Valdez.

James was survived by his wife Marcine Vigil-Romero, his son Joshua James Romero, his parents Agnes and Ovidio Romero, his brother Dennis Romero sister-in-law Eva Romero, his brother Robert Romero, mother-in-law Deborah Vigil, sister-in-law Carmen Borrego, brother-in-law Jonathon Borrego. His nieces Nailea Romero, Alicia Romero, nephews Erik Romero, Diego Borrego, Andres Borrego, along with his uncles, aunts, cousins and many close friends.

Funeral mass will be recited for James at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on May 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Burial of cremains will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Las Vegas, NM with Full Military Honors.
