Janie Denise
Burger
June 17, 1963 – February 17, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Janie Burger, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2025, in Las Vegas, NM. She was a woman of deep compassion, resilience, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Born to the late Robert Ronald "Bob" Burger and Betty Jane Burger, and later loved by her stepmother Teresa Burger, Janie grew up with her brothers, Michael Burger (Juli) and Tony Burger (Nina), who survive her and with whom she shared a close bond throughout her life. Raised with a strong sense of service and commitment to helping others, Janie dedicated countless hours to volunteering. She served meals in school cafeterias, supported youth sports—including football, basketball, soccer, and Little League—and gave her time to the libraries at New Mexico Highlands University and United World College, where she fostered a love for learning and community. She had a heart for children and always went the extra mile—picking up kids for practice, cheering from the sidelines, and ensuring every child felt included and valued.
Her kindness and generosity extended far beyond her own family. She believed in the goodness of people, always acting with positive intent and striving to do what was right. Though life presented challenges, she faced them with determination, warmth, and an unshakable love for those around her. Janie possessed the dry, yet sharp midwestern humor of her father, Bob.
Family was Janie's greatest joy. She is survived by her loving husband, Ruben Aragon, and together they shared a beautiful, blended family. She was a devoted mother to Melinda Espinoza, Wesley Espinoza (Elysa), Stephen Aragon (Estrella), Craig Aragon (Mauri), and Chrissy (Chris) Morris. Her 17 cherished grandchildren were the light of her life, each holding a special place in her heart. She loved them all deeply and was grateful for the joy they brought into her world.
Janie is also survived by her nieces and nephews: Kristen Burger, Kayla Moore, Zachary Burger, and Robert Burger, and her two beloved fur-babies, Abby and Bailey, who brought her great comfort and joy.
Janie will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her unwavering love, generosity, and the countless lives she touched.
