Obituary

Jesus Malaquias Brizal of Albuquerque, NM, was born in Las Vegas, NM on September 2, 1947 to Malaquias and Lucia Brizal. He died at home peacefully on Thursday November 9, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his parents Malaquias and Lucia Brizal, son Bryan Brizal, and sisters Priscilla Riggs, Doris Silva, and Carmen Louise Brizal, and his special nephew Paul Gonzales, as well as two special great-nieces.

Survivors left to cherish his memory are his daughter Lucy Perez of Phoenix, AZ along with three grandchildren, his sisters Maxine Gonzales (husband Ralph) of Las Vegas, NM, Annette Brizal of Albuquerque, NM, Elfeda Rivas (husband Robert) of Las Cruces, NM, Eugenia Urioste (husband Wilfred) of Pueblo, CO, brother Greg Brizal of Santa Fe, NM, brother's  in-law Jeff Riggs of Rio Rancho NM, and Gene Silva of Alamogordo, NM special niece Ashley Gonzales, as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

Jesus grew up in Las Vegas, NM. After graduating from Robertson High School in 1966 and was immediately drafted into the US Army and volunteered to serve our country in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969 and became active in the NM National Guard.

Upon discharge, he attended computer school in Albuquerque.

He was employed with the Las Vegas Public Schools as well as with the railroad.

In 1979 he reentered the Army and was stationed in Korea, later at Fort Knox and was honorably discharged in 1985.

Upon discharge he began his love for life-long learning attending Highlands University earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Environmental Science and Political Science. During this time, he was granted full disability from the Army.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at Rogers Mortuary 600 Reynolds Ave Las Vegas, NM on January 10, 2024 at 10 am and internment of ashes will be held on January 11, 2024 at 2:00pm at Angel Fire Vietnam Veteran's Memorial.
