Obituary

JoAnn S. Almanzar, age 81, passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of faith, JoAnn's life was a reflection of love.

Born on April 30, 1944, to Mariano and Sofia Pino, JoAnn was raised in a close-knit Catholic family. She was the beloved sister of Adrian Ray Pino and Mariano Pino and is now reunited in eternal peace with her siblings Joe Pino, Judy Pino, Eugene Pino, Dorothy Rostro, and Judy Martinez. She was also preceded in death by her in-laws, Mike and Katie Almanzar Sr.

JoAnn was the cherished wife of Mike E. Almanzar Jr., with whom she shared 60 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built not only a strong family, but a business rooted in integrity and hard work. For 46 years, they owned and operated Almanzar's Carpet and Upholstery. JoAnn was the heart of the upholstery business, skillfully working as the seamstress and warmly welcoming every customer with a kind smile and a generous spirit.

JoAnn was the proud mother of two children: Allison Santillanes (husband Clifford Santillanes) and Austin Almanzar (wife Juanita Almanzar). Her love and legacy continue through her grandchildren: Jessica Amaral (husband Michael Amaral), Jesse Valdez (wife Lauren Valdez), Angelica Lopez (wife Jalilah Lopez), Augustine Almanzar (partner Aubrey Herrera), John Almanzar (partner Alex Hernandez), Adrian Almanzar, and the late Angel Santillanes, who now welcomes his grandmother in heaven.

She was also blessed with great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy: Charlotte Amaral, Katie Amaral, Olivia Almanzar, Isabella Almanzar, Alejandro Almanzar, Ezra Almanzar, and Zia Valdez.

Her deep faith in God guided her life. Her legacy is one of strength, and unwavering love for her family.

She will be remembered for her gentle smile, kind words, and the way she made everyone feel at home—whether in her living room or her family's business. JoAnn's light continues to shine in the lives of those she touched.
